New X-ray contrast agent developed by UZH and NCCR researchers

Researchers at the universities of Basel and Zurich, including Vartan Kurtcuoglu of the NCCR Kidney.CH, have developed a novel X-ray contrast agent called “XlinCA”.

The new agent enables scientists to capture 3D image of blood vessels with much higher precision than previous methods allowed, revealing the finest details of capillary networks.

The method is laid out in a new paper, "Crosslinkable polymeric contrast agent for high-resolution X-ray imaging of the vascular system," published in the latest issue of Chemical Communications.
